- Hi guys! Trust everyone had a wonderful break during the CNY holidays. It’s been a busy past few days (what else is new..?) Let’s see, we had our reunion dinner with Mummy, Edward & Mischa on Friday, 27th Jan and we left for our maiden trip to Bintan on Saturday CNY eve.
- Every year, Philip & I host a reunion dinner (bbq-steamboat) in the spirit of Chinese New Year. It’s so great that we are able to celebrate different cultural & religious events here in Singapore. The spread we had was the usual but the marinade different; I can never seem to remember what I put in the marinade the year before.. yeah I should write it down. Still bbq-steamboat will never be complete without mummy’s chili sauce!!!
- Came Saturday morning I let the two elder chickadees know that they too are going with us to Bintan. They were led to believe with much cruelty that they were not going as they were not on their best behaviour. Megs was of course in tears practically the whole week before while Baba was resigned to the fact that he was staying with either nanny or Uncle Edward & aunty Mish. So it was delightful seeing how thrilled they were when told they were going!
- We left for the ferry terminal after dropping mummy home with Zorro. Zoe had gone over to the Simon’s the night before and then over to Karen’s for the rest of the weekend and looks like the rest of her life (that’s another story for another time). Anyway, Baba was unwell with fever & runny nose still he put on a brave face and held his own. The second we had our room keys, we changed and headed straight out to the beach not wanting to waste time. Time we didn’t waste; all we've did was hang out on the beach (most of the time), the pool (once) and drink margaritas (quite a few). The kids were having a ball and have not stopped thanking us for brining them here.
- The highlight of the trip will have to Baba DRIVING!! Yep Tuan (much to my surprise) gave Baba full permission to drive the buggy car which we hired for an hour. I was of course almost freaking out but with proper directions and instructions that boy could drive! He was just overjoyed! Words cannot describe how he was that day; and while Megs & I felt like we were in a taxi, we were tickled pink. The second highlight would definitely have to be Baba & Megs wake-boarding or rather trying to. With more practice they could be potential lifeguards like the ones on Baywatch…!
- So by the end of the trip, we concluded that Bintan is a thumbs’ up despite everything being in sin dollars.
- The kids didn't want to leave, but as the saying goes all good things must come to an end. So we leave Bintan wanting more and looking like chicken, beef n pork satay!
